The IUCN-SSC Crocodile Specialist Group (CSG) is a worldwide network of biologists, wildlife managers, government officials, independent researchers, non-government (NGO) representatives, farmers, traders, tanners, fashion leaders, and private companies actively involved in the conservation of the world's 23 living species of alligators, crocodiles, caimans and gharials in the wild.
As part of the growing crocodile industry in the Philippines the owner of Coral Agri-Venture Farms Inc., Mr. William Belo has become a member of this prestigious crocodile specialist group (Source: http://www.iucncsg.org/ph1/modules/Home/memberlist.phpl). Through Mr. Belo's various crocodile conservation efforts together with his fellow members of the local crocodile organization known as the Crocodylus Porosus Philippines, Inc.(CPPI), he and the CPPI's president Mr. Vicente Mercado has become members of the CSG.
As such, the CPPI group has been accredited by CSG to host the "CSG 2012 Working Meeting" in the Philippines. This will be the second time CPPI will be hosting a crocodile-related event in the Philippines; the first being "The forum on Philippine Crocodiles" which was held in 2007 and was proven a success by the foreign and local participants.
